Norris Sales Celebrates 60 Years With New Product Lines, Open House
In 1956, a new family business opened its doors in Norristown, Pa. Today that company, Norris Sales, is still going strong—and is still owned and operated by the same family. Norris Sales has moved far beyond its origins in the boiler business to become one of the Delaware Valley’s largest and best-known suppliers of construction equipment, training, parts and service.
One thing that hasn’t changed over the years, however, is a commitment to customer service.
Norris Sales president Karen Zajick, grand niece of company founder Tony Cianciulli, runs the business today with her parents, Don and Rachel Zajick. She says Norris maintains its longstanding commitment to local contractors even as it grows.
“We have customers that range from small to large contractors and everyone in between across all segments of work, ” she says. “Our growth in many ways is a reflection of the growth that our customers have seen over the last 10-15 years. Our goal to be able to serve all of their needs and provide best in class customer service.”
Norris Sales has expanded its equipment line in recent years, moving into telehandlers and boom lifts, among other large equipment. “We’ve made a significant investment over the last three years to double our fleet size, and that has really helped us expand into some new areas,” Zajick says.
This means that Norris is well-positioned to assist with all facets of a project, from initial site preparation through construction to the finishing touches of landscape detail.
“In the distant past when the building would go up, that was when Norris Sales service options were done,” Zajick says. ”We did a lot of dirt-compacting equipment and site work products, but now we can supply equipment for contractors through the entire project lifecycle”
Celebrating 60 Years
Norris has grown over the years to encompass over 90 employees and two full-service locations, in Conshohocken, Pa. and Sicklerville, N.J. Last June, Norris Sales moved into a new, state-of-the-art, 55,000 sq. ft. headquarters facility at 1010 Conshohocken Road in Conshohocken.
To celebrate their 60th anniversary and move, Norris Sales held an open house for vendors on April 21, with the goal of showcasing all they have to offer. The event included food, giveaways and tours of the company’s ever-growing line of parts and equipment for sale and rent.
“For our customers that know us and have grown with us, a lot of them may not realize how much our lines have expanded, and the depth of inventory we have,” Zajick says.
For example, Norris Sales became a Link-Belt distributor last year, providing an expansive line of big excavators starting from 18,000 lbs. Other lines that Norris Sales is dealer and distributor of include JLG, Skytrak, Wacker Neuson, Gehl, Toro Dingo and Sullivan Palatek to name a few.
“On top of our large rental fleet, which we continue to grow, we also do a lot on the distribution end,” Zajick notes.
Ultimately, as was the case 60 years ago, it all goes back to convenience, quality and service.
“The goal of the open house was to highlight and showcase what we have to offer now with the new building, and be able to demonstrate to our customers the breadth of product that we have in stock for them as well as the factory authorized service we can provide,” Zajick says, “so no matter what the need —Norris Sales can be your one stop provider.”
