Full Face vs Half Mask Respirators

Coverage and protection is important no matter the application. However, atmosphere and environment is critical when deciding which type of respirator - a full mask or a half mask - is necessary to get the job done.

Full mask pieces are utilized in atmospheres that are immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) or when the skin and eyes are at risk of contaminants. Meanwhile a half mask ideal for applications where workers are exposed to various gaseous hazards, such as high concentrations of fumes and mists. No matter which option you choose, you'll find that the MSA provides dependable protection, engineering excellence and cost-effective versatility.

In addition to amount of facial coverage, MSA also offers two different types of purification masks: filtered-air and supplied-air respirators.

Filtered Air

Upon inhalation, the air stream flows through the patented Advantage filter cartridges on the masks, which remove contaminants, so the wearer breathes in clean, fresh air.

Light weight and easy to use, MSA filtered-air masks are designed for simple cartridge replacement, allowing workers to lock filters into place with a single twist.

Supplied Air

MSA's supplied-air respirators come with a patented waist-mounted manifold, which gives it incredible flexibility.

The PremAire Respirator system can also be converted from a supplied-air device to an air-purifying system, which lets workers move freely from station to station without being tethered to an air-supply hose while still being protected by the device's air-purifying capability.
